Easily recognized by the unique license number with seven digits (CM/L -XXXXXX); The ISI (Indian Standards Institution) mark is a standards-compliance mark for all the industrial and electronic appliances in India since the year 1955. The mark certifies that a product stands to an Indian standard developed by the Bureau of Indian Standards, the national standards body of India. This body was created to ensure the much needed orderly commercial growth and maintenance of the quality in industrial production.
Introduction and Importance
India’s highest governing body, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) provides this certification to the manufactures to sell specific products in India. Manufacturers have to acquire this ISI certification. ISI certification Mark on market products guarantees that manufacturing of the product has gone through the high-quality checks and follows regulation set by the Bureau of Indian Standards.

PROCEDURE OF LICENSE
As per the government norms, the applicant is supposed to submit the application of BIS Certification along with all the relevant documents and regular fee. After the submission of all the essential documents, an evaluation of the manufacturing facility is conducted by a BIS officer where they check the capability, technical details and quality.
Also random samples will be withdrawn for independent testing as per BIS standard in the laboratory and compliance is checked. If the product fulfill all the compliance then the certification is finally issued.
Generally the Time period would be: 4 to 6 months
The certification scheme is categorized in 2 wings:-
ECO Mark Scheme: Under this scheme of certification, a different ‘ECO Mark’ is applied to the products that are specified to all the Environment-friendly products particularly. Rest, the process is same.
